SHINJUKU INSIDENT

Jackie Chan once more brings his fans an incredible action movie. A flair plot, brilliant actors, such a jaw-dropping fight which could make you a little uncomfortable. Jackie doesn't play a cute role and funny role like he used to do, but he plays a serious role who really has a complicated life.
Derek Yee, the director, did an awesome job, probably the best ASIAN movie this 2009. Really, i wasn't regret watching it instead of KNOWING (Nicholas Cage).

The story is about Chinese immigrants who do illegal works at Japan. And one of them A Jie (Daniel Wu), unfortunately caught by a Taiwan gangster and he is tortured sadisticly and one of his hand cut of from his body. Jackie, which is his loyal friend, decided that he will take a revenge to this person who did this to Ajie. Suddenly, he is messing with not only a bunch of Taiwan people, but a real Yakuza (a call for powerful MAFIA in Japan). But, Jackie is innocently clever and he would do anything for his friends and family. Unfortunately,, after his hard work, Ajie who had lost his hand, still in unaccepting condition and very emotional about this whole thing. Jackie has managed to make Eguchi, son of the Yakuza's leader believe in him and give him power to Shinjuku street, one street which contain night life clubs and casinos.
He turns into this drug-dealer and a gothic scary teenage, gathered all Japanese teenagers to be his group. His days full of messing up with people until the headman of this Japanese gangster feel disturbed and hear several rumours about Chinese people who tortured Japanese people.

The best actor in this movie, for me, is DANIEL WU. Looks like a kid, but from a nice and happy person turns into this psycho-disturbed teen.. He plays his role like a pro. The emotion that is going on in him, we all can see and feel the same thing. The way he talk and the way he shivers a little when he needs drugs.

Really amazing movie, FULL OF UNEXPECTED SURPRISES,brilliant, and pretty scary for some people who afraid of blood. But what an awesome movie! I give all the thumbs i can give for this movie. Worth every cents i ever spent for a movie.

CONFESSION OF A SHOPAHOLIC ... a fashionable way to laugh!

by Steffi Rahardjo

Confession of a Shopaholic is a recently-released movie based on the best selling novel by my personal favorite author, Sophie Kinsella.
Although it didn't make a great achievement on BOX OFFICE, it surely did entertain alot of us in Indonesia.
I have watched it two times on different theaters and from my point of view, Isla Fisher brought up the fresh innocent Rebecca Bloomwood in a good way. I laughed pretty much the whole movie because Isla is really, i think, stupid! Maybe, Rebecca is the stupid one, but Isla does play her good enough to make me believe that she is probably stupid too! Haha..

Well, the movie is about Rebecca Bloomwood (Isla Fisher) who has an addiction to shopping, but she never admits her addiction. She always get a blurry reasons to cover up her unstoppable passion for shopping. Until... her credit card debt comes and haunting her.
The worst thing happened after, the PLANT magazine where she's working is going to fired all of the workers because the magazine will be discontinue it products and about to broke.
Rebecca had her nightmare of Derek Smeathe , her debt collector, haunting her by phone everyday and she doesn't even want to look on her debts! Suze (Krysten Ritter), her kind roommate and best friend, helps her to manage her addiction and count her debts and found a shocking number at the end. Rebecca has got to find a job to pay her debts! So she applied to Alette magazine, but sadly the position she was looking for had been taken by Alicia Billington (Leslie Bibb). Ironicly, after several stupidity she had made, she is accepted to work at Financial magazine which lead by Luke Brandon (Hugh Dancy). And the story goes ...
You can get good laugh watching this movie, but also a good moral at the end of the movie. Where you can count on family and bestfriend when you have nobody else to hold on to.
P.J Hogan, director of Confession of a Shopaholic, obviously wanted to make an all-out comedy from this movie, so no wonder everything seems so stupid and funny even in a few sentimental moments between Luke and Rebecca.

Also, this movie brings alot of brand names such as CHANEL, YSL, PRADA, LOUBOUTIN, DENNY AND GEORGE and other high-class brands. Too bad, Hogan doesn't make the spotlight on the brands instead of the stores.
Although the original novel by Sophie Kinsella is very much better and far more detail than the movie, I think thanks to Isla's great performance, Confession of a Shopaholic succeeded the goal of create great comedy for every ages. Free to laugh!

Fast and Furious 4 , Full on Critics !

by : STEFFI RAHARDJO

Fast and Furious the fourth installment released on April 3rd 2009 worldwide and quickly parked on top of BOX OFFICE with it first weekend gross over $72M! Driving Monsters vs Aliens 3D movie to the second position on it second week on the BOX OFFICE.
Looking back to the previous sequels, Fast and Furious had presented great races, cool effects, lots of hot cars and ladies, which make people waite impatiently for the fourth movie. On April 3rd, people were lining up to get the ride on Fast and Furious, starring the same actors of the previous Fast and Furious sequels, VIN DIESEL and PAUL WALKER.
Directed by Justin Lin, who was directing Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift, this new Fast and Furious is expected to be more thrilling and satisfying by 'fast cars lovers' around the world.
With it ad campaign 'New Model, Original Parts' , the movie looks promising.

Sadly movie critics weren't too satisfied with the content of the whole movie.

This slogan 'New Model, Original Parts' has been turned to 'Slower Model, Original Actors who can't act' by the movie criticus. They said watching it was a waste of time and money.
Vin Diesel and Paul Walker the duo stars of this movie play the casts of 'Criminal and Cop' as the first Fast and Furious' script. Vin Diesel plays Dominic Toretto, the famous criminal and also the 'real driver'. Paul Walker plays O'Connor, FBI agent who supposed to take Toretto to jail.
The story becomes interesting when Rodriguez, who play Letty, died on a car accident. But, actually Letty survived the accident and murdered by a guy works for Braga, a drug dealer.
Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) heard the news and regret his decision to leave Letty before. He wants to take revenge. Boring scenes lead to Toretto and O'Connor (Paul Walker) suddenly work together to catch the notorious bad guy who sell drug named Arturo Braga. Some race scenes are pretty heart-stopping like the one when they has to race across the busy streets of Los Angeles hosted by Braga. But there are no surprises left, so predictable and lame.

Expected to be spectacular and turned out to be a disappointment to the movie critics, Justin Lim and Chris Morgan (the writer) has to take the blame for it. But, regardless of the bad reviews, there are many fans who put their thumbs up for Fast and Furious 4. Either entertained by the muscly Vin Diesel or the hot cars in the movie, we can only wait how long Fast and Furious 4 can stay on top of the BOX OFFICE. Park as long as you can and don't crash down so fast..
